Matt,

Zerigo did provide inspiration for starting DNSimple as I was using them as well for Heroku apps. My goal is to focus exclusively on domain management right now to make the best hosted DNS solution possible for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

As for screenshots/tour/etc, it’s near the top of my list for things to do.

I’ve started using zerigo lately – it sounds like you’re doing something in the same spirit as them.

Am I missing something, or is the current website totally lacking any screenshots/tour/etc?

So is it “DNS Simple” or “DN Simple”? since the domain name is dnsimple.com; the confusion!

I’m not deeply familiar with DynDNS offerings although a basic price check shows a per-domain cost of ~$40 which means that the cost is going to be significantly higher for DynDNS service (unless I’m confused, which is possible).

I also know that they started and still excel as a dynamic DNS provider when you want to provide a domain name for a machine that’s behind DHCP, and that they added on hosted DNS later. My goal with DNSimple is to focus on domain and DNS management at a reasonable cost while providing tools to help domain and DNS troubleshooting down the line.

That’s awesome! In the past a small team I worked on used dyndns.com’s DNS services for our DNS hosting. How would you briefly contrast DNSSimple with their offerings?

I don’t think you need to apologize about getting ‘businessy’. The reality is you need to take care of the business side when you’re starting a new venture and for an audience of mostly coders they really need to grasp this and learn to do the best they can with it.
